Pear and 5 Spice Spritzer

Pear and 5 Spice Spritzer

Reducing waste in the kitchen is easy when you have a delicious cocktail on the other side of it! Instead of discarding the juice from a can of pears down the drain, combine it with a bit of Chinese 5 Spice and sugar for a unique cocktail you won’t forget.

2 oz Wheyward Spirit 

3/4 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice 

2 1/4 oz Pear and 5 Spice Syrup 

Club soda

Combine Wheyward Spirit, lemon juice, and syrup into a shaker with ice and shake to combine. Serve in a highball glass over crushed ice and top with club soda to taste. Garnish with star anise.

*Pear and 5 Spice Syrup

1 cup pear juice, drained from a can of pears in juice 

1 cup white sugar 

2 tsp Chinese 5 Spice blend

Add all ingredients to a small pot on medium heat. Cook until just bubbling while stirring and allow to cool on the stove. Strain through cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer and store in an airtight container.
